One person was killed in a crash that happened on Thursday afternoon on I-40 West near Pellissippi Parkway.

At around 4:15 p.m. on Thursday, July 11, 2024, KPD officers were dispatched to a multi-vehicle crash in the westbound lanes of I-40 just east of I-140.

Based on the investigation conducted at the scene, it is believed that the following occurred. A white SUV was slowing down due to traffic when it was rear-ended by a black pickup truck. Two other vehicles were struck after the initial collision.

The driver of the white SUV, an adult man, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver of the black pickup truck sustained minor injuries. No other injuries were reported.

The identity of the deceased is being withheld at this time and the investigation is continuing.
